Due to the
unpredictable weather here in the California Sierra mountain range.. We
generally plan to have kids around mid May so they can enjoy the nice
weather
and fast growing green grass at the beginning of their growth.
If you are considering adopting a Caprine, know that they are a herd animal, and need companionship of another of their own kind. A heard consists of at least two animals. We will not place our goats in a single goat family. They appreciate a secure area protected from predators and dogs.
We disbud all of our
kids at the age of 3 to 11 days old.
Kids usually are ready
to go
home around two and a half months of age.

We disbud all our
dairy goat kids and will be breeding for polled kids in the future as
in the past the horned
goats we owned have pierced the eye out of another goat, have
unintentionally bruised our leg while walking past, and have given us a
black eye (a buck not raised by us and quite wild). Horns are very
dangerous unintentionally and intentionally, and the goats that have
them learn exactly how to use them.
